CLT - the acronym stands for nothing, and we are OK with that!
About 15 years ago the owners of CLT, (then Corporate Leisure Travel), a small travel agency in Maitland, Florida, decided to expand their business and add meeting planning to their list of services. One of the co-owners went to work selling this new service, not locally – not even in Florida. No. She started with the Fortune 500. She had the audacity to set her sights on giants… and she got them! |
We were rock stars.
Within a period of about 3-4 years CLT grew from 6 employees to over 60 and boasted an enviable client list which included the first, second and third largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Hundreds of meetings, launches and incentives later, the buzz about us began and out of the blue, an offer was made by a very large multinational company and we were sold.
We were excited about the change. After all, we’d thrived on change. We watched as they took the C-L-T off the building and replaced it with their logo, a magnificent and bold globally recognized graphic. It symbolized our inclusion in something big, really big - and we were proud.
Who's going to read all of this?
FAST FORWARD
We tried so hard, as did they, but as the only meeting logistics company among hundreds of internationally-renowned advertising agencies, we just didn’t fit their business model and with that and dramatic changes in the global economy, the decision was made to part ways. |
CLT seizes the day.
We’ve started a new business with a recycled name from our past but with the same loyal clients and loyal team, and we’ve done it during the greatest economic downturn since the 1930’s. Some say we’re fearless. We prefer to think it's audacity.
CLT – the letters may stand for nothing...
but they mean everything to us.
It’s our inspiration - a constant reminder of our bright, resourceful, collaborative, innovative, respectful team; the clients who trusted us with their business and became our friends; and what can be done when there’s no one to tell you differently.
I’d like to buy a vowel, please.
Every industry has its own set of acronyms. B2B can stand for Business to Business, Border to Border, Base to Base or Back to Basics. We like a more direct approach – words. However, we did cave to one: H2H. It can mean Human to Human or Heart to Heart. Either is a nice place to begin. |
